Gap N14: What integrated nutritional, exercise and/or pharmaceutical countermeasures can be used to mitigate bone loss?
Description
Bone loss during spaceflight is likely due to multiple risk factors.  Some established risk factors for bone loss may stem from constraints of mission operations (e.g., dietary intake, food stability, exercise hardware) or from physiological deconditioning (e.g., muscle atrophy, weight loss) while the contribution of other risk factors require further exploration (e.g., interactions of inflight medications, endocrine perturbations, fluid shifts, radiation effects).  Effective mitigation of bone loss is likely to involve multiple countermeasure approaches.
