Task Phase II: D-OCT Analysis of The Optic Nerve Head and Surrounding Structures in Long Duration ISS Crew Members Compared to Terrestrial Bound Normals and Pseudotumor/Increased Intracranial Hypertension Patients

Aims:
To assess morphological ocular changes measured with spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in the optic nerve head, peripapillary structures [retinal pigmented epithelium and choroid] and general choroidal thickness seen in International Space Station crewmembers exposed to long duration zero gravity and compared to matched normals and pseudotumor and increased intracranial hypertension patients.

Specifically, utilizing the data obtained and stored in the Zeiss Cirrus SD-OCT to assess optic discometry (disc size, elevation, cup and volume of the nerve), retinal thickness, retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (total and at specific points), choroidal thickness (peripapillary and sub-macular) and retinal pigmented epithelium angle.
