Task 2017 NSCOR #1 - Acute CNS Synergistic effects; Late CNS assessment I
Last Published:  12/21/16 11:56:30 AM (Central)
Short Title: Acute CNS Synergistic
Responsible HRP Element: Space Radiation
Collaborating Org(s):
Funding Status: Planned-Funded - Task expected to be within budget
Procurement Mechanism(s):
Aim 1 (Acute CNS): Continue Risk Characterization - Quantify the spectrum and dose responses for acute (mission timescale) functional CNS changes directly relatable to mission operations (standard measures).
Aim 2 (Acute CNS): Define adverse outcome pathways associated with functional CNS changes (mission timescale).

Aim 3 (Acute CNS): Examination of predictive/critical measures and biomarkers.

Aim 4 (Acute CNS): Determine potential synergistic effects from other spaceflight stressors e.g., psychological (isolation and confinement), altered gravity (micro-gravity), stress, sleep deficiency, altered circadian rhythms, hypercapnea, altered immune, endocrine and metabolic function, or other.

Aim 5 (Late CNS): Risk characterization - late evaluation of behavioral changes or degenerative neurological disease associated with GCR exposure.
