Task Bedrest – Contributions of CO2, resistive exercise, and sodium to the VIIP syndrome
Short Title: VIIP Syndrome - Bedrest
Responsible HRP Element: Human Health Countermeasures
Supporting Org(s):
Funding Status: Unfunded - Task not within current budget
Procurement Mechanism(s):
Aims:
This bedrest study will evaluate the influence of several potential contributing factors (cephalad fluid shift, CO2, resistive exercise, and sodium) to the development of the VIIP syndrome. This study may be initiated if bedrest is determined to be an appropriate analog for the development of the VIIP syndrome as seen in space flight.
Integration/Unique Aspects:
Need a validated VIIP analog prior to study initiation.
