Description

Initial State of Gap: MedB8.1 and Nutrition SMO data provide evidence showing  that the status of some nutrients changes during flight (i.e., iron, folate, selenium)

Interim steps:

    1. Evaluate the final set of Nutrition SMO data to assess the changes in nutrient status during spaceflight [Gap is 75% complete at this time, anticipate 100%  completion with final nutrition SMO analysis ]

Approach: Continue analysis of ongoing Nutrition SMO data collection.

Current Tasks Mapped to Gap Nutritional Status Assessment: SMO-016E, Evaluate Energy Expenditure During Long-duration (>3mo) Missions, Inflammatory Response, Biochemistry Profile Surveillance

Target for Closure
Determine whether subgroups (i.e., gender, those that perform EVA, type of exercise, etc) have different changes in nutritional status.
