Description

State of Knowledge: HRP does not have sufficient resources to fund all of the research and technology development proposals that may be of benefit for reducing the medical risk associated with exploration spaceflight. An evidence-based and quantifiable trade space analysis tool suite for medical risk would provide objective data to decision makers for use when assessing the value of new proposals. This information will enable HRP to more accurately prioritize future research and technology development efforts.

Approach:

Develop a repeatable process by which research proposals can be evaluated for their potential impact on medical risk by generating and modeling estimates of their predicted benefits (crew health and performance outcomes) and resource “costs” (mass, power, volume, data, etc.) with a trade space analysis tool suite

Target for Closure
1. Acceptance and use of this medical risk research prioritization process
Mappings
Risk Risk of Adverse Health Outcomes and Decrements in Performance Due to Medical Conditions that occur in Mission, as well as Long Term Health Outcomes Due to Mission Exposures
