Description
Present State of Knowledge: 
While we understand the requirements to stave off nutrient deficiencies on Earth, we do not know the nutrient and dietary requirements to stave off diseases like cancer, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and ocular disease. With regard to space flight, we do not know the nutrient requirements for optimal crew health or for mitigating the detrimental effect of space travel on human health.

Research Approach:
Through a workshop with external experts, including the latest flight/ground/military/elite performance data, identify and define the optimal nutrition (including caloric requirements, macronutrients, and micronutrients) to support health and performance for each phase of flight. Test and refine in various platforms.
