To confirm the relation between compression sonography as a non-invasive measure of peripheral venous pressure and an invasive measure and to identify which vein or veins are best suited for the measurement of peripheral venous pressure. Anatomical and individual differences influencing the size and quality of the veins and the tissues surrounding them may impact the ability of the sonographers to obtain reproducible measures in clinical and research environments. Information collected in this project will add to a greater understanding of this hardware and its utility in the measurement of peripheral venous pressure and the estimation of central venous pressure. A non-invasive methodology is critical for the estimation of central venous pressure safely in a large number of astronauts before, during, and after space flight. Central venous pressure is one of the primary factors which have been hypothesized to contribute to the development of elevated intracranial pressure in astronauts during and after space flight.
