Aims:
The goal of our investigation is to provide multi-scale data for an improved mechanistic understanding, and an augmented conceptual framework for NASA's use in estimation of carcinogenesis risk from space radiation.
Aim 1) Investigate the radiation modulation of the angiogenesis and migration/invasion bottlenecks – molecular characterization and mechanistic elucidation.
Aim 2) Elucidate the role of mesenchymal stem cells in modulation of the ‘cancer progression hallmarks’ following the radiation exposures under study in Aim 1.
