Aims:

Determine by immunohistochemistry (IHC) the evolution of changes in sclerostin expression (Scl-IHC) in osteocytes and osteoblast-driven bone formation in 3 separate long bone compartments of adult rats during 90 days of hindlimb suspension (HLS) and subsequent 90 days weightbearing recovery.  In calvarial bone determine if 90-day HLS alters sclerostin IHC expression in osteocytes and bone formation activity, and the time course of recover therefrom.  Determine if these responses vary by sex over 90 days of recovery by determining the same outcomes in age-matched females.
