Short Title: Glycocalyx and 1C-Retrospective
Responsible HRP Element: Human Health Countermeasures

Procurement Mechanism(s):

Specific Aim #1
Determine genetic variants in AGBRESA bedrest subjects as was determined for VaPER bedrest

subjects. We will assess the number of risk alleles compared with the degree of optic disc

edema, which will be estimated as the ΔTRT (total retinal thickness measured in images acquired with optical coherence tomography) during and after bed rest.

Specific Aim #2

Measure urinary glycocalyx degradation products from bed rest subjects and assess the

appearance of these markers with the magnitude of ΔTRT.
