Gap EVA14: What other EVA-related risks, developments and techologies exist that may affect EVA research?
Last Published:  07/30/21 01:05:31 PM (Central)
Responsible Element: Human Health Countermeasures (HHC)
Status: Closed
Closure Rationale
Gap is closed due to the development of an integrated EVA Human Research Plan that outlines a formal framework for coordination of multi-disciplinary research between the EVA Office, Crew and Thermal Systems Division (Engineering) and the Human Research Program.
Description

Present state: The HRP EVA Discipline is but one group of many working on EVA related issues. Monitoring, integration and involvement  with other human research, EVA hardware development and EVA mission and architecture development is critical to maintaining a strong influence in the EVA community and effectively focused research plan.

Approach: Monitor activities in the broader human research and EVA communities to look for synergy and integration where feasible. Ensure that that suited crewmember performance and injury risk is considered in other EVA related hardware and mission architecture developments.

Target for Closure
Monitor activities in the broader human research and EVA communities to look for synergy and integration where feasible.  Ensure that suited crewmember performance and injury risk is considered in other EVA related hardware and mission architecture developments.  This would also include regular reviews of literature and participation in relevant meetings and conferences to stay on top of developing EVA topics, to ensure this integration is maintained.
