Aims:
- Develop population balance model for renal stone growth in microgravity to quantify the relative importance of crystal growth from solution compared to aggregation and agglomeration
- Develop model to quantify effects of renal stone transport on stone growth and factors leading to clinical presentation
- Tie 1&2 into a probabilistic simulation that will inform the IMM of the effects of fluid balance and potassium citrate on the likelihood of clinically significant renal stone formation during exploration missions
Category:
Technology or Tool
Subcategory:
Computational Models or Simulations
Description:
Data and software module that are used by IMM software. Data generated by this model will 1. Quantify the effects on renal stone formation of various countermeasures, including hydration and citrate and, 2. Quantify the effect of a partial gravity field on renal stone formation. The delivery will contribute to the closure of Gaps Med08 and Med12.
