Aims:
  1. Track changes in the calcium isotope composition in the urine of ISS crew members before, during and after spaceflight, and compare these changes to results of traditional biochemical and x-ray based measures of bone metabolism.
  2. Validate calcium isotopes as a biomarker of net bone mineral balance in space, and the calcium isotope biomarker as a tool for both monitoring bone health in space and measuring the effectiveness of countermeasures to bone loss in microgravity.
  3. Investigate saliva and hair as soft tissue proxies for calcium isotope analysis.
