Aims:

This is a prospective, blinded, human subject research study comparing two noninvasive ICP methods (listed below) to a reference standard of invasive ICP monitoring.

  1. The tympanic membrane displacement (TMD)/cerebral and cochlear fluid displacement (CCFP)  method
  2. Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) method

 

In separate subprotocols, we will compare the accuracy of the noninvasive methods to two

established reference methods of invasive ICP measurement:

 

1. Continuous ICP monitoring with a fluid-coupled external transducer via temporary

spinal catheter or via a 25 gauge needle inserted into an existing shunt reservoir

 

2. CSF infusion testing using the Likvor Celda System
