Aims:
This project
reviewed the current knowledge of ISS environmental surface data and developed
the scope for a comprehensive risk assessment of using the Quantitative Microbial Risk
Assessment (QRMA) guidelines. The
assessment provides the framework and information necessary to develop a
quantitative measurement of the risk of infections caused by microorganisms on
surfaces and in Air within the ISS.
As a result of
the assessment, a future solicitation will be developed to perform the QRMA of
air and surfaces on the ISS.
Category:
Risk Characterization, Quantification
Subcategory:
Evidence or Risk Characterization
Description:
An initial scoping task to understand the requirements needed to perform a quantitative risk assessment for the risk of infection due to microorganisms on the surface in the ISS was performed. The results were used to develop a solicitation for the FY15 NASA research announcement request for proposals.
