Aims:

Specific Aim 1 – Determine the qualitative and quantitative changes in CBF, ICV, ICP, cognitive function and ocular structure from 1% CO2 /-12 degree HDT condition compared to ambient air/-12 degree HDT and ambient air/upright conditions using non-invasive brain/ocular monitoring devices and MRI.

Specific Aim 2 – Determine the acute (2 hours) effects of 3% CO2 /-12 HDT on CBF, ICV and cognitive function and ocular structure compared to 1% CO2 /-12 HDT, ambient/-12 HDT or ambient air/upright conditions using non-invasive brain/ocular monitoring devices and MRI.

Specific Aim 3 – Evaluate the suitability of Envihab-DLR to successful implement multiple measures in 3 simultaneous subjects in bed-rest position, and perform NASA standard measures for ground-based analogs of spaceflight.
