Aims:
Further development of the MONSTR system will be an extension of the pilot project deliverable completed in FY15. Task managers will identify NASA and contractor subject matter experts (SME) (e.g. ExMC clinicians, database architects, systems engineers), in conjunction with external SMEs (e.g. clinical specialists) solicited via crowd-sourcing initiatives, to assess and complete the following:
1. Condition List - Review of the medical condition list for a Mars design reference mission originally derived from the Integrated Medical Model (IMM) and currently in use by the MONSTR pilot system for completeness and accuracy.
2. Resources - Review of the diagnostic and treatment resources currently included in the database for completeness and accuracy. Addition of preventative and screening resources. Resources include tangible assets (e.g. medical equipment, medications) and intangible assets (e.g. clinical skills required to perform a procedure).
3. Design and development of the MONSTR database to accommodate system Phase 2 requirements.
4. Design and development of a MONSTR user interface for data manipulation and report generation.
5. Review and modification of the existing resource scoring ("criticality") and ranking paradigm to provide better insight into resource importance.
6. Development of visualizations using business analytics software (e.g. Tableau, Centrifuge).

Subcategory:
Informatics
Description:
The deliverable is a SQL database and web-based user interface that provide a quantitative assessment and ranking of resources required to screen, prevent, diagnose, and/or treat a medical condition to inform medical technology investigation and/or development within the ExMC element. The delivery will contribute to the closure of gap Med08 by addressing Approach #1.
