Aims:
1. Investigate the effect coastal Antarctica winterover on leukocyte distribution, immunocyte function, cytokine profiles and other relevant immune/stress biomarkers.
2. Investigate the effect coastal Antarctica winterover on the reactivation and shedding of latent herpesviruses.
3. Characterize other adverse clinical outcomes, as voluntarily shared by crewmembers, such that immune changes, viral reactivation, and clinical manifestations may be correlated to infer a clinical relationship.

Description:
A report evaluating the Antarctica Concordia station as a suitable Terrestrial analog for spaceflight-associated immune system dysregulation, a prerequisite for ground-based countermeasures evaluation. The report will include data on immune dysfunction during coastal deployment to Neumayer Station that are determined using the same assays which have defined immune dysregulation in astronauts, allowing a direct flight to ground comparison.
