After the completion of the AGBRESA study, we should know if CO2 plays a role in developing disc edema during bed rest, or if strict head down tilt alone is sufficient.  If CO2 does play a role, the next step will be to perform the CO2 dose-response study to determine the magnitude of the disc edema response to increasing magnitudes of CO2 atmosphere.  The duration and magnitude of CO2 doses is still TBD, but will likely be in the range of 4, 8 and 12 mmHg exposures for 2 to 4 weeks.
