Aims:
The central hypothesis of this research project is that radiation exposure leads to phenotypic changes in human stromal fibroblasts that mimic alterations similar to those observed in tumor associated fibroblasts, and that these changes will have non-targeted influence on esophageal epithelial cell behaviors.

Aims
  1. to determine whether radiation alters stromal fibroblast interaction with esophageal epithelial cells by measuring senescence, genome stability and secretion of bioactive molecules
  2. to examine radiation impacts on hallmarks of carcinogenesis in 3D organotypic cultures
